Ammonium nitrate prilling tower system

Post by irsan »

hello every one, nice to be first writer here :)
any one here has experience in finishing section of ammonium nitrate prilling tower unit?
How about NH3 and particulate emission to atmosphere during normal operation?
How about scrubbing scheme wet or dry scrubber?
and the last, is it better priller machine rotating or vibrating?

Thank you for your information

yes to trade the ammonium nitrate in my country has to fulfill strict regulations, since it is classified as an explosives matter.

I have no idea with your question, sorry

Why is the post not there? Did that person delete their reply? Anyways to answer their question, even though the intent wasn't clear, doesn't miracle-gro contain everything? why would you need nitrate? And it's Miracle-gro to be right. This thread is really useful with threads having posts about ammonia

Dear Mr Irsan

any one here has experience in finishing section of ammonium nitrate prilling tower unit? Are you talking Lo Density or High Density prilling? I have experience with both.
How about NH3 and particulate emission to atmosphere during normal operation? We have experience with getting down to 1 mg /nm3
How about scrubbing scheme wet or dry scrubber? Wet scrubber is preferred due to high solubility of ammonium nitrate which is easily removed
and the last, is it better priller machine rotating or vibrating? Interesting discussion. We prefer static nozzle. Less moving parts, easier to clean.

In my earlier days, I was part of a team to commission a vibrating prill head for low density AN production.

The claimed benefit of this technology over a static unit was supposed to be a reduction in the formation of fines and "micro prills". The oscillation was supposed to help form a clean break of the melt stream from the prill head "bucket" holes.

So, as with many decisions in the engineering world, the balance to consider is the compromise between minimal moving parts, less to go wrong over improved production performance. Apologies, I don't have the comparative, quantitative data to point to. I leave it to the OP to research further detail.

It would be useful to see where that investigation concludes.
